James H. Thomson, Esq. has represented real estate and small business clients since being sworn in as an attorney in 2007. In that capacity, he has handled thousands of transactions for hundreds of business owners, not-for-profits and individual clients.
James Thomson’s legal work is focused on representation of commercial property owners and business owners. Mr. Thomson daily handles matters including commercial real estate sales, purchases and leases; business asset sales and purchases; formation and dissolution of business entities, including Corporations and LLC’s; drafting of Buy-Sell Agreements, Operating Agreements and other corporate documents; handling commercial landlord-tenant matters; and filing ICAP tax abatement applications. These services are offered in both New York and New Jersey.
In addition to his commitment to the clients of Thomson Law, PLLC, Mr. Thomson is actively involved with the Staten Island business and not-for-profit communities. He is a founding member and past President of The Executive Club of Staten Island. He is a member, and past Board member, of the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce. He additionally has served on the Board of Directors of the West Brighton Local Development Committee, now known as SIBOC. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Anthony M. Varvaro Believe Foundation (av38.org), as well as the advisory boards of St. Peter’s Boy’s High School and the Carl V. Bini Foundation.
Mr. Thomson has been an active participant in numerous political campaigns and organizations, and as a contributor to NY1’s Staten Island Now roundtable discussions on local congressional races. He has been recognized as a Top 10 Up and Comer in Staten Island (City and State Magazine, April 2018); S.I.E.D.C. 20 under 40 honoree (2015); and YMCA Unsung Hero of Hurricane Sandy (2013), Staten Island Chamber of Commerce Lou Miller Award (2024), Staten Island Board of Realtors Community Service Award (2024), and Staten Island Power 100 (City and State Magazine, 2024).
Mr. Thomson studied law at the University of St. John’s, Queens Campus, as a recipient of the St. Thomas More Scholarship. During his time as a law student, Mr. Thomson interned at the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office under D.A. Daniel Donovan, and in the New York State Supreme Court under Justice Philip Minardo.
A native Staten Islander, Mr. Thomson has lived on the North Shore for over 40 years. He pursued his undergraduate studies at the State University of New York at Albany where he was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree from the University’s Business School, with a focus on marketing and management. During break periods at that time, Mr. Thomson worked for several Staten Island title companies as well as the Richmond County Clerk, developing the knowledge basis for the real estate title elements of his practice today.
Karalyn P. Buono, Esq. was born and raised in Staten Island, NY.Karalyn’s legal work is focused Estate Planning and Estate Administration. As an Estate Planning attorney, Karalyn meets with clients to advise, educate and draft the right estate plan for them. Karalyn also works with clients to become appointed Executor/Administrator of a deceased persons estate. In addition to Estate Planning and Estate Administration, Karalyn also represents small businesses. In this role, Karalyn reviews and drafts numerous types of business documents, including Limited Liability Company Operating Agreements, and Business Corporation Shareholders Agreements and Bylaws.
Ms. Buono graduated from St. Joseph Hill Academy with Honors in 2010, and went on to attend Pace University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, graduating Cum Laude in 2014. In 2013, she began her career as a paralegal assisting in matters of real estate transactions, estate administration, and estate planning.
In 2016, Ms. Buono enrolled in New York Law School to further grow her passion of the intricacies and realistic application of the law. During her time at New York Law School, Ms. Buono expanded her knowledge by interning at various intellectual property firms and participating in the Cyberharassment Clinic, the first clinic in the country dedicated to representing victims of cyberharrassment and cyberbullying. Ms. Buono was one of the founding members of the Privacy Law Association at New York Law School. She graduated in 2019, after maintaining her Dean’s Scholarship Award throughout her time at New York Law School. Ms. Buono proudly passed the New York State Bar Exam in July of 2019. Karalyn is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey. Karalyn is a member of the Chamber of Commerce Business Guild 3 and Staten Island Business Outreach Center. She was also named one of the honorees for the S.I.E.D.C 20 under 40 in 2023.
Saher Chaudhary, Esq. is a New Jersey native focused on representing sellers and purchasers in New York and New Jersey commercial and residential real estate transactions, as well as business law matters.Saher graduated from Rutgers University, New Brunswick in 2018, where she majored in Human Resources Management and minored in Labor Relations. She then attended New York Law School, receiving her Juris Doctor (J.D.) in 2021. Prior to and during law school, Saher interned at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) where she gained valuable negotiation experience in the mediation and legal departments. After passing the July 2021 Uniform Bar Exam, Saher was admitted to the State Bars of New York and New Jersey in early 2022. She began her career practicing residential real estate law and wills, trusts, and estates in Staten Island. Saher then went on to handle individual and class action consumer litigation matters. She worked on cases on behalf of consumers against mortgage servicers, motor vehicle sellers, tech companies, and various other businesses in both State and Federal Court. Saher enjoys singing, discovering new music, and watching movies in her spare time.
Rachael Fundaro is a Brooklyn native who assists clients across all matters at Thomson Law. Rachael regularly coordinates client meetings and closing logistics. She also communicates with clients to keep them abreast of their matters, and coordinates with other professionals as necessary.
